JUST IN: Majority Democrat Miami-Dade County Commission Votes to Name Street “President Donald J. Trump Avenue” After Trump’s Historic Victory

On Tuesday, Florida’s Miami-Dade County Commission approved the city of Hialeah’s request for county recognition of its tribute to President Trump with a street named in his honor, allowing the city to hang the street signs on county property.

The city successfully named the street “Donald J. Trump Avenue” last year, and now the county has officially recognized it.

The Mayor of Hialeah, Florida, vowed to President Trump at a rally in Hialeah, Florida on November 8, 2023, that he would rename the street and unveiled a big “Donald J. Trump Avenue” street sign.

The majority Democratic Commission voted 9 to 1 on the request officially recognizing the co-designation of Palm Avenue as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue.” Democrats make up seven of the 13 seats on the board, but only one voted against the name change. Four Democrats joined five Republicans in voting for the change.

The lone Democrat who opposed the measure, Marleine Bastien, cited the so-called “collective trauma that immigrants and citizens alike felt during this election cycle.” She further accused Trump of spreading “falsehoods about Haitians eating cats and dogs in Ohio” and making “derogatory comments about Haiti, Mexico, and some African countries in the past.”

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Marino shared the news in an X post Tuesday:

President Donald J. Trump Avenue is official in Miami-Dade County!

Today, we ratified the City of Hialeah’s initiative to honor President Trump’s legacy of championing freedom and opportunity by co-designating Palm Avenue—a vital artery in our community—as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue.”

Miami-Dade County strongly supported President Trump during the election, and this designation serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and vision for our nation.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump flipped MiamiDade County red for the first time since 1988, winning the county by eleven points. Biden won the county by seven points in 2020.
