WATCH: Florida AG Announces Lawsuit Against Starbucks Over Racist Anti-White DEI Hiring Quotas

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a bombshell lawsuit against Starbucks, accusing the coffee giant of engaging in blatant racial discrimination through illegal DEI race-based quotas.

The suit, announced in a video posted to X on Wednesday, claims Starbucks’ hiring practices unfairly disadvantage white people, or “non-minorities,” violating Florida’s anti-discrimination laws and prioritizing skin color over merit.

In his announcement, Uthmeier wrote:

Starbucks used DEI to implement illegal race-based policies for hiring and advancement.

Using DEI as an excuse to hire, promote, or humiliate an employee based on race violates Florida’s civil rights law, and we just filed a lawsuit to hold Starbucks accountable.

The allegations stem from Starbucks’ 2020 initiative, where the company pledged to fill 30 percent of corporate roles and 40 percent of retail and manufacturing positions with “people of color” by 2025.

Uthmeier’s office argues this isn’t just aspirational, it’s a quota system that ties executive bonuses to diversity targets, imposes race-based requirements on suppliers and board members, and excludes certain races from networking and mentorship programs.

“These practices constitute reverse discrimination,” the lawsuit states, seeking to halt them immediately, along with affirmative relief, damages, and $10,000 civil penalties per instance of discrimination against Florida residents.

This legal action follows complaints from Florida Starbucks employees and applicants who felt sidelined by the company’s “woke” agenda.

One veteran employee with 17 years of service reported that Starbucks was paying higher wages to individuals of certain races despite equal experience and skills.

In 2024, former AG Ashley Moody launched an investigation into these claims, citing the Supreme Court’s ruling against racial discrimination in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard. Although parts of the probe were dismissed in November, Uthmeier’s office is not willing to let it slide.

Starbucks, predictably, pushed back against the suit.

A spokesperson told WFLA, “We disagree. We are deeply committed to creating opportunity for every single one of our partners (employees). Our programs and benefits are open to everyone and lawful. Our hiring practices are inclusive, fair and competitive, and designed to ensure the strongest candidate for every job, every time.”

The company insists there are no quotas, only “aspirational representation goals.”

Conservatives have long criticized Starbucks for its left-leaning policies, from promoting progressive causes to now allegedly discriminating against white workers in the name of “diversity.”

If successful, this lawsuit could set a precedent for dismantling DEI schemes nationwide.
