On April 4, 2023, Nancy Pelosi participated in a discussion with Nobel Prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist, Paul Krugman, at the City University of New York. The primary topics for the event included the American Rescue Plan, the future of democracy, and economic justice.
However, the event was disrupted by a group of anti-war activists who accused Pelosi of war crimes related to conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, and Syria, as well as ineffective economic measures in the United States.
These activists demanded that Pelosi acknowledge the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and accused her of misleading the public regarding the invasion of Afghanistan, resulting in widespread impoverishment.
Furthermore, they requested that Pelosi disclose the truth regarding the alleged US destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline, leading to Germany’s energy loss.
They referenced Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as a means of provocation against China, and deemed the Dodd-Frank reform ineffective in response to the financial crisis of 2008. Finally, the activists suggested that 600 trillion dollars worth of derivatives must be addressed to prevent an economic collapse and demanded that Pelosi refrain from pursuing wars with China, Russia, or other eastern nations.
