The US Supreme Court on Tuesday extended its order blocking full SNAP payments to states.
The high court extended the block until Thursday as the government shutdown comes to an end.
“The administrative stay entered on November 7, 2025, is hereby extended until 11:59 p.m. (EST) on November 13, 2025,” the order read.
Liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented. There was no opinion.
The US Supreme Court on Friday evening temporarily halted a lower court’s order requiring the Trump Administration to fund SNAP benefits for November.
On Thursday, Judge John McConnell, a Rhode Island-based district court judge, ordered the Trump Administration to fund SNAP benefits amid the Schumer Shutdown.
The lawless judge ordered the Trump Administration to take funding from child nutrition programs and redirect it to SNAP.
Late Friday evening Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson temporarily halted Judge McConnell’s order requiring Trump to fund SNAP benefits in full.
Justice Jackson’s order was set to expire 48 hours after the First Circuit’s resolution of the pending motion.
The Supreme Court extended Justice Jackson’s administrative stay after the Senate voted to reopen the government.
After more than 40 days of a Schumer Shutdown, the Senate finally voted on legislation to reopen the government this week.
The Senate-passed legislation will head to the House. The House is expected to pass the legislation on Wednesday.
