Federal Prosecutors Drop Phony Assault Charges Against Former J6 Prisoner Enrique Tarrio

Prosecutors have dropped the phony assault charges against former January 6th prisoner Enrique Tarrio.

Tarrio was arrested by Capitol Police last month after he was viciously attacked by far-left activists as he held a press conference outside the Capitol.

Also in attendance at the event were Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, investigative reporter Ivan Raiklin, and fellow January 6th prisoners Joe Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and Dominic Pezzola.

Former TGP Jenn Baker explained the incident at the time:

Screaming protesters were allowed next to the Proud Boys and J6ers during their protest. There was only a few of them. They were blowing whistles and screaming.

The police allowed one particularly annoying screaming woman to get up into the faces of the J6ers.

At one point Enrique Tarrio defended himself from this screaming leftist.

Enrique swiped his hand to get this woman out of his face. That is when the police arrested Enrique.

Tarrio was charged with assault in connection with the incident, although those charges have now been dropped.

The Washington Post reports:

Federal prosecutors will not bring charges against former Proud Boys chairman Henry โ€œEnriqueโ€ Tarrio stemming from a confrontation he had with a demonstrator at the U.S. Capitol last month, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In an interview Wednesday, Tarrio said a representative from the U.S. attorneyโ€™s office told him as much.

A person familiar with the decision, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said prosecutors decided the evidence was probably not sufficient to win a conviction given Tarrioโ€™s claim of self-defense.

A former chairman of the Proud Boys, Tarrio was persecuted, harassed and ultimately sentenced to 22 years in prison for his alleged involvement in the J6 protests.

However, he was among the 1,500 protesters freed by President Trump hours after taking office with a โ€œfull and unconditional pardon.โ€

In an interview with Jim Hoft last month, Tarrio opened up about his experiences as a political prisoner and the brutal conditions and torture he was subjected to.
