Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), a key GOP vote in the Senate’s confirmation of Trump Nominees who has come under fire recently for her opposition to Pete Hegseth, says she is meeting with Hegseth this week but still has not said she’ll vote for him.
Trump-allied attorney and Article III Project founder Mike Davis has taken the lead on pressuring the Senate to confirm President Trump’s nominees. His organization provides a customizable email form that allows you to send an email to all Senators demanding Hegseth’s confirmation with just one click. The form is available here. Davis recently declared that Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, Kash Patel, is a “red line” for the 53 Senate Republicans and provided a similar email form available here.
The Hegseth email template reads:
President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Pete Hegseth to serve as our next Secretary of Defense is bold and justified. The Pentagon is in desperate need of a true, reformative leader, and Hegseth will be just that.
Trump’s election was a mandate for not only him, but also his Cabinet picks. A vote to confirm him lines up with how America voted in November.
Pete Hegseth will turn the Pentagon back to its original focus of defending America and its values instead of waging woke culture wars in the name of the deep state.
His qualifications speak for themselves. Hegseth is an Ivy League-educated, war-fighting, Bronze Star-winning Army officer. The Senate must vote to confirm him as our next Defense Secretary.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Ernst said on Thursday that she is not yet a “yes” vote on Pete Hegseth after meeting with him privately. Ernst voted in favor of Biden’s incompetent DEI Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, but she draws the line with Pete Hegseth. What a gutless individual.
Ernst voted to confirm nine of Biden’s 21 Cabinet Nominees who helped him destroy the country.
Not only is she refusing to vote for Hegseth, but Ernst is also waging an aggressive campaign to derail Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense, according to sources close to Trump.
Last week, it was revealed that Ernst had been making direct appeals to former President Donald Trump, urging him to withdraw Hegseth’s nomination and positioning herself as a potential replacement.
The Federalist also reported that Ernst has not only called Trump multiple times but also hinted at rallying female senators against Hegseth if Trump doesn’t reconsider the nomination.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Thursday that calls grew for a challenger in Ernst’s upcoming Senate primary, with Trump-Endorsed Arizona Senate candidate and Iowa native Kari Lake emerging as a top contender for the seat. Lake was trending on X Thursday with growing calls for her to return to her home state to primary Ernst.
The people want Kari Lake!
One day later, on Friday, Ernst backpedaled on X, stating that she would meet with Hegseth this week to continue "constructive conversations."
However, Ernst did not commit to supporting him. "At a minimum, we agree that he deserves the opportunity to lay out his vision for our warfighters at a fair hearing," she said.
Pete Hegseth and I will continue our constructive conversations as we move forward together in this process. We plan to meet again next week.
At a minimum, we agree that he deserves the opportunity to lay out his vision for our warfighters at a fair hearing.
