During a St. Patrickโ€™s Day visit to the White House, former MMA champion, Conor McGregor criticized the government of his native Ireland, accusing it of inaction and mismanagement, particularly on illegal immigration and overseas spending. He called on Irish Americans to pressure Irelandโ€™s leaders, warning that the country could become unrecognizable if current policies continue.

At a White House press conference, Conor McGregor declared, โ€œIโ€™m here to raise the issues that the people of Ireland face. It will be music to their ears. Never on the mainstage has the issue that the people of Ireland face been spoke. Our government has long since abandoned the voice of the people of Ireland, and itโ€™s high time that America is made aware of what is goinโ€™ on in Ireland.โ€

McGregor slammed the Irish government, calling it โ€œthe government of zero action with zero accountability.โ€ He criticized how public funds were being used, saying, โ€œOur money is being spent on overseas issues that have nothinโ€™ to do with the Irish people.โ€ He warned about the growing impact of illegal immigration, describing it as โ€œrunninโ€™ ravage on the country.โ€

He pointed to the drastic changes in rural Ireland, saying, โ€œThere are rural towns where the Irish became a minority in one swoop. It is not beinโ€™ addressed, and the 40 million Irish Americans need to hear this, โ€™cause if not, thereโ€™ll be no place to come home and visit. Ireland is at the cusp of losinโ€™ its Irishness. And Iโ€™m here to raise the issue and highlight it.โ€

McGregor also praised President Trump, saying he had come to America to โ€œlisten to President Trump, whose work ethic is inspirinโ€™.โ€ He added that Trumpโ€™s dedication only made โ€œthe lack of work by the Irish governmentโ€ even more apparent.

McGregor has previously hinted at a potential run for Irelandโ€™s presidency and has been vocal about national security concerns, advocating for stricter immigration policies and deportations.

His visit came shortly after President Trump hosted Irish Prime Minister Micheรกl Martin at the White House. Martin expressed interest in working with Trump on global conflicts, including those in Ukraine and the Middle East, and welcomed discussions on a potential peace process in Ukraine.

Later that day, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with McGregor at the Pentagon to discuss issues including illegal immigration in both the U.S. and Ireland. McGregor described illegal immigration as a severe threat to Ireland, accusing the Irish government of enabling what he called โ€œthe biggest money racket in Irish history.โ€ He expressed concern that Irish Americans visiting their ancestral homeland would find it unrecognizable due to demographic changes.

Hegseth emphasized the U.S. governmentโ€™s efforts under President Trump to address illegal immigration, highlighting recent deportations of gang members and the militaryโ€™s role in border security. He criticized past policies that prioritized defending foreign borders while allowing mass illegal immigration into the U.S.

McGregor, a strong supporter of Trumpโ€™s policies, praised the administrationโ€™s actions, calling them a relief for many Americans. The two also discussed military readiness, with McGregor drawing parallels between combat training and military preparedness.

Before meeting Hegseth, McGregor visited the White House, participated in a press conference, and later returned for a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office. Before leaving the Pentagon, he recorded a message, saying โ€œThis is a message to the great troops of the United States of America,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m here with your Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Youโ€™re in good hands. Men, women, keep fighting the good fight. Fight, fight, fight, as the big man says. Letโ€™s go, troops of America. God bless.โ€
