One Dead, Seven Injured After Tesla Cybertruck Explodes Outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas (VIDEOS)

One person is dead and seven more injured after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Year’s Day.

The driver of the vehicle is the deceased one, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, but authorities are investigating it as a possible act of terror.

According to a report from a local ABC affiliate, “Investigators do not know what caused the blast, such as whether something was wrong with the vehicle or whether something external prompted it. Determining what was behind the explosion is the key focus of the probe.”

“There does not appear to be any further threat to our community here now,” McMahill said during a press conference about the incident.

“We’re very well aware of what has happened in New Orleans with the event that occurred there, and the number of victims there and the additional IEDs. So as you can imagine, with an explosion here on iconic Las Vegas Boulevard, we are taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep our community safe,” McMahill continued.

USA Today reports, “The public is being asked to stay away from the hotel, which has been evacuated. Investigators say most guests have been moved to nearby Resorts World Las Vegas.”

In a statement posted to X, the social media platform owned by Tesla’s Elon Musk, Trump International Hotel Las Vegas wrote:

Earlier today a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety & well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response.

Eric Trump, the president-elect’s son and vice president of the Trump Organization, wrote in a post on X, “Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism.”

Musk said that Tesla is currently investigating the matter.
