On Wednesday, President Donald Trump attended the funeral of three fallen Palm Beach County officers to pay his respects.
Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz, Cpl. Luis Paez, and Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller were killed after being struck by a vehicle while conducting traffic enforcement on November 21.
According to a report, the three were conducting traffic enforcement when a woman driving an SUV swerved onto the shoulder of the road. The SUV then hit the guardrail before striking the deputies.
Sheriff Bradshaw shared that the injuries to Corporal Paez and Deputy Waller and both men died the day of the crash.
Deputy Diaz fought for his life for four days before passing away on November 25.
WEST PALM BEACH — President-elect Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis joined the scores of law-enforcement officers, local leaders and community members who gathered Tuesday to honor three Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies killed last month in a roadside crash.
Cpl. Luis Paez, 58, was an avid photographer on the brink of retirement. Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller, 54, was a fisherman once honored by his captain for his upstanding work ethic. Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz, 51, helped convict a driver blamed for one of the deadliest car crashes in Riviera Beach’s history.
Between them, the men had a combined 75 years of experience at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Their memorial service began at 9 a.m. with a procession from a Royal Palm Beach funeral home to the South Florida Fairgrounds.
