Following today’s developments, the trade war between the United States and Canada is unlikely to be resolved quickly.
As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson reported, President Trump reinstated his tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China this week under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Tariffs were temporarily suspended last month during negotiations to secure the border and stop the flow of fentanyl.
Trump told reporters on Monday that there is “no room left for Mexico or for Canada,” citing the “vast amounts of fentanyl” that has come into the U.S. On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced reciprocal tariffs while insulting Trump.
Trump took to Truth Social this afternoon to announce that he had spoken to Trudeau regarding the tariffs and proceeded to body-slam him. He ripped the Canadian Prime Minister for his role in America’s fentanyl crisis and mocked him for his inability to explain when the Canadian election would occur.
Interestingly, Trump did not refer to Trudeau as “Governor” and stated the call was “somewhat friendly.”
“Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs,” Trump wrote. “I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped.”
“He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, ‘That’s not good enough,’” Trump added. “The call ended in a “somewhat” friendly manner! He could not tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here?”
“I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!”
However, Trump was not done roasting the outgoing prime minister. He continued ripping into Trudeau for his role in contributing to the fentanyl crisis in the United States while pointing out the number of illegals that have come across the U.S.-Canadian border.
He also referred to Trudeau as “Governor” this time.
“For anyone who is interested, I also told Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada that he largely caused the problems we have with them because of his Weak Border Policies, which allowed tremendous amounts of Fentanyl, and Illegal Aliens, to pour into the United States,” Trump stated. “These Policies are responsible for the death of many people!
