The radical left is in full meltdown mode over President Trump’s bold move to create the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative aimed at cutting bloated federal bureaucracy and reining in reckless spending.

But in a classic case of leftist hypocrisy, they seem to have forgotten that Barack Obama did almost the exact same thing in 2011—except it was less effective.

Back in 2011, then-President Obama launched his own “Campaign to Cut Waste,” tapping Joe Biden to lead the charge against misspent taxpayer dollars.

Sound familiar? It should. Obama’s initiative mirrors almost the exact same justifications that Trump and Elon Musk are using today with DOGE.

In the clip, Obama brags about eliminating government waste, calling out useless federal programs and ridiculous taxpayer-funded projects like an online fan page for a folk music group made up of Forest Rangers.

He even proudly announces that the federal government owns hundreds of buildings that are completely abandoned, including a massive empty warehouse in Brooklyn that had been sitting unused for over a decade due to Washington red tape.

But when Trump, Elon Musk, and his team actually try to follow through on the same promises, better and more effectively, suddenly it’s an attack on democracy.

WATCH:

After the video went viral, Elon Musk didn’t hold back. The tech billionaire, who Trump appointed to oversee DOGE, responded by tweeting: “Obama sounds exactly like @DOGE !!”

Even Megyn Kelly joined in on the mockery, sarcastically writing: “This is totally different because… it’s different ppl and it’s different and it’s …”

Her tweet highlights the blatant hypocrisy of Democrats, who cheered when Obama claimed to be cutting waste but are now screaming fascism when Trump actually takes action.

One user wrote, “The Campaign to Cut Waste was Obama’s DOGE. But it failed because he put Joe Biden in charge of it.”

Also, in March 2010, Barack Obama inadvertently created the DOGE Department while trying to cover up the Obamacare website disaster.

Barack Obama created the Affordable Care Act with zero Republican support. The law was a light form of socialized healthcare similar to how such systems are operated in Europe.

Obamacare needed every single vote in order to pass. It took a lot of work to get the necessary votes to pass the overhaul of an entire industry.
