Three Dead As Cartel Gunmen And Mexican Army Clash At Texas Border [VIDEO]

On May 10, 2023, a shootout occurred at the Texas-Mexico border in the La Nopalera area, located below the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. The incident involved a clash between Mexican Army soldiers and cartel gunmen resulting in the death of three gunmen. The incident caused terror among motorists trying to cross the international port of entry.

The La Nopalera area has recently been the site of several shootouts, and this incident is just one of many clashes taking place between rival factions of the Gulf Cartel vying for control of the region. Despite the intensity of the gun battles, Mexican government officials at both the state and federal levels have been working to downplay the situation, claiming that all is safe and that the confrontations are exaggerated.

This recent shootout began when Mexican military forces patrolling the area encountered a group of cartel gunmen and attempted to apprehend them. This resulted in a heavy exchange of gunfire, followed by a high-speed chase that ended when authorities killed three gunmen who were riding in a Ford F-150.

One faction of the Gulf Cartel, the Reynosa faction, has stationed a large number of gunmen on the eastern side of the city, including La Nopalera, to prevent rival gunmen from entering Reynosa from Rio Bravo. This fierce turf war has led to several clashes, including the recent shootout.

Following the incident, U.S. Representative Tony Gonzalez took to social media to criticize political rivals who have opposed various border security measures, including designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of drug cartel violence at the U.S.-Mexico border and the need for increased border security measures to protect the safety of citizens in the region.

Earlier, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the deployment of a new National Guard unit, the Texas Tactical Border Force, to hotspots along the border to intercept, repel and turn back migrants trying to enter Texas illegally.
