US Government Agrees to Pay Peter Strzok $1.2 Million in Lawsuit Settlement Over Release of Anti-Trump Text Messages

The Justice Department agreed to pay former FBI special agent Peter Strzok a $1.2 settlement over the release of his anti-Trump text messages.

Peter Strzok sued the DOJ for โ€˜unlawfully disclosingโ€™ his text messages to his paramour Lisa Page.

Strzok and Lisa Page discussed an โ€œinsurance policyโ€ to keep Trump out of office.

โ€œI want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andyโ€™s officeโ€ฆthat thereโ€™s no way [Trump] gets electedโ€ฆbut Iโ€™m afraid we canโ€™t take that risk,โ€ Strzok text messaged to Page in an Aug. 15, 2016 exchange, referring to Andrew McCabe.

โ€œItโ€™s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before youโ€™re 40,โ€ Strzok added.

Other profanity-laced text messages between Strzok and Page showed their contempt for Donald Trump.

Peter Strzok also said in a text message to Lisa Page โ€œweโ€™ll stopโ€ Trump from becoming President.

Strzok was fired from the FBI in 2018 for violating bureau policies after he launched the โ€˜Crossfire Hurricaneโ€˜ Trump-Russia probe in July 2016.

ABC News reported:

Former FBI agent Pete Strzok, who was fired from the bureau in 2018 after his disparaging text messages about Donald Trump were made public, has reached a settlement with the Justice Department over his claims that his privacy rights were violated, according to his lawyers.

According to Strzokโ€™s lawyers, the U.S. government has agreed to pay Strzok $1.2 million.

In his 2019 lawsuit, Strzok and his lawyers argued that the FBI and DOJ unlawfully disclosed his private text messages disparaging Trump before and after the 2016 presidential election โ€” including the time frame during which Strzok helped lead the agencyโ€™s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clintonโ€™s private email server and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
