WHAT? Ukrainian Edition of Playboy Magazine Brings Injured and Scarred Women in Sensual Essays

The controversial essay is splashed in Ukrainian edition of playboy magazine.

A rather disturbing trend is ongoing in Ukrainian society, now that theyโ€™ve sent thousands of women into the veritable meat-grinder that is the war with Russia.

Now, the latest issue of Playboy is featuring Ukrainian women injured in the military conflict bearingโ€ฆ their battle scars.

The Scarred Beauty project assembled five women โ€“ including a veteran who lost a limb in combat โ€“ are featured in the famed hedonistic magazine to โ€˜tell the stories of women who have survived severe injuries and their rehabilitationโ€™.

No one can be against the valuing of female veterans and civilian victims, but is Playboy magazine really an adequate vehicle?

The Telegraph reported:

โ€œThe creators said they wanted to highlight โ€œfemale strengthโ€ and show that beauty did not โ€œvanish after injuryโ€. They added that it was important to โ€œchallenge outdated stereotypesโ€ traditionally associated with Playboy.

Ksenia Sikorska, of the First Ukrainian International Bank, which collaborated on the venture, said: โ€˜We not only want to support all seriously injured people, but also to show, through the example of our injured women, that they need not only physical recovery, but also mental strength and psychological adaptation to a new body, support and understanding from societyโ€™.โ€

Olha Diatliuk shows the burn in her arm.

โ€œPlayboy wrote: โ€˜They look into the lens and the mirror to say, ยดI am here. I am beautiful and worthy of loveยด. This beauty is not for comparison. It is to inspire.โ€

The May issue brings veterans like Anastasiia Savka, featured on the cover showing her prosthetic limb, a result of her stepping on a landmine back in 2023, while working as a sniper in Zaporozhie.

โ€œKristina Sanina, a captain in the armed forces of Ukraine, lifted her dress to show her two prosthetic legs in the photographs.โ€
