A Florida man is recovering after being gored by a bison at Yellowstone National Park this week.
It seems like this is a lesson that people have to learn once or twice a year, every year. For some reason, people think these are calm, docile animals that can be approached. The truth is that they weigh almost as much as a car and can run surprisingly fast. Theyโre also wild animals and are famously unpredictable in their behavior.
A full grown bison could easily kill a human being, if they wanted to.
The Daily Caller has details:
Bison Gores Tourist At Yellowstone National Park
A bison gored a 47-year-old Florida tourist Sunday at Yellowstone National Park after the man approached the beast.
The tourist was treated by emergency medical personnel after sustaining minor injuries, Yellowstone authorities said in a press release.
The incident is subject to an ongoing investigation, but it remains the first case of a bison attacking a person in 2025. There are two such cases in 2024, and one in 2023.
โAlways stay 25 yards away from bison,โ Yellowstone park authorities said in the press release. Authorities advised people maintain a similar distance for all large animals and a 100 yard distance from wolves and bears.
โBison will defend their space when threatened and have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal. They are unpredictable and can run three times faster than humans,โ the press release said.
People reacted on Twitter/X:
If you get this close to a bison to get a photo, youโre so stupid, you deserve to die.

Maybe the park just needs bigger warning signs, reminding people that you should avoid wild animals with horns that weigh thousands of pounds.
